12x12 Layout ft Carefree by Pam Bray

Hello, Jenn here and I am excited to be joing my fellow design team members who are having so much fun creating with Pam Bray's Carefree collection!  This is the type of paper that you pull out of the packaging and can't help the smile that spreads across your face.  It's so fun and bright and well... carefree!!!

I choose pictures of my daughter playing video games while our (then) new kitten was sound asleep by her side.  The pictures have some of the same colours found in the collection and the combination of a cute kitten and the video games makes the pictures kind of fun and whimsical :)

One of my favourite techniques lately has been ripping and layering papers.  It's a great way to add a lot of texture and movement to the layout, as well as giving you the opportunity to get a lot of patterns onto the layout.  With so many papers that I wanted to use, I thought this would be a good technique to use with this collection.  I chose the crosshatch paper for my background and then chose a combination of some busier and more solid papers to rip into strips.  I like to have the white core of the paper showing where I rip it, so I always make sure to place the pattern I like face up, and then grab the paper from the top and rip towards myself.  I usually let my strips tear organically so they all look different, and layer solid prints with busier prints so that each one can stand out and be seen.  I decided to create my layers at the top of the page and run them horizontally down about half way.

I used two of the pattern papers to matte my photos, and placed them at the bottom of the page, under the layers.  I popped one up with foam squares to add some dimension.  I used a little left over strip of the paislee paper and a strip of the red paper behind the pictures to ground them and bring some of the darker red down the page to help balance it.  I found the title for my layout in the cut-apart sheet.  I cut out the green square with the banners, and the square that says " Friendship is a Treasured Gift" and layered them to create my title.  I fussy cut the vines from one of the squares and added them around my photos and then pulled out some ephemera from the Floral collection for an added touch of embellishment.  I used black and white florals to contrast with all the colours in the layers.  I also added the little cat flair from Nicole Wright's Baubles & Bows collection.  My final touch was some green sequins from the Child at Heart collection.

This was such a fun layout to put together.  This collection makes me so happy!!!  Please use my discount code DTJENN for 10% off your purchase of Pam Bray's Carefree collection and anything else that catches your eye :)  To see how I put this layout together, please visit my Youtube channel.  Thank you so much for stopping by, and until next time, Happy Scrapping :)
