Hi friends!
Khristina here and I am super excited to be creating with one of the new collections, Strength of the Season, today. This collection has some of the most gorgeous fall colors and unique patterns. Also today, I am playing along with a You Tube series called Off the Board where we choose something that we have saved to Pinterest and use it as inspiration for a layout. I chose to work with a grid layout from Michelle Stokes and you can see her layout in the video as well.
For this layout, I wanted to create a 12x12 grid using a bunch of 2x2 blocks of patterned paper. I simply chose the papers that I wanted to use and cut them with my paper trimmer. I also took some Distress Oxide in Ripe Persimmon to ink the edges of my background paper as well as the edges of each of the blocks. I carried this inking into my photo mat as well as my embellishment clusters to create some continuity, add dimension, and help everything stand out.
For my photo mat, I used one of my favorite techniques lately. I took three pieces of white cardstock and each each one slightly bigger than the one before it. I inked the edges of all three layers and then placed some foam dimensional adhesive between layers two and three. This creates a kind of 3D matting effect and really helps the photo stand out from the background. I then simply tucked in a bunch of the leaves and twigs from the Strength of the Season ephemera pack and the layout was complete.
Adding just a few puffy phrase sentiments completed the look and made this an easy layout to create. I love being able to find ways to create in short blocks of time because let's face it...life is crazy busy! This collection is simply gorgeous and doesn't need a lot of extra embellishments or other additions to make a beautiful layout and that is a win in my book!
Here's the video for more details and the story behind the photo as well....
xoxo,
Khristina
