Canadian Winter December Daily by Jenn

Hello, Jenn here!!!  Happy December :)  I loved how my December Daily turned out last year using Wild Whisper's Christmas Comfort, so I couldn't wait to make my 2019 album using their new Canadian Winter collection.

I had a few book covers left over from a DIY Halloween project I made so I decided to use one of them as the cover for a December Daily junk journal.  I started by choosing my papers from the Canadian Winter collection and cut them down to 10 inches long by 8 inches high.  I went through my Christmas stash to find some extra papers to throw into my two signatures.  I several pieces left over from Christmas Comfort, along with some pages from 6x6 and 6x8 paper pads, some vellum, and an envelop.  I made two signatures, each with 10 papers and one envelop.

When my signatures were done, I used two clips to hold the pages together and then used a push pin to poke holes along the center of the papers.  I used embroidery thread to saddle stitch my signatures together.  You could definitely use a sewing machine to stitch you signatures, but I love using a thicker string because I feel like it just adds to the rustic, handmade feel, of the junk journal.  Once my signatures were sew, I then used them to measure and poke holes into the spine of my book covers.  I used the same simple saddle stitch with embroidery thread to attach my signatures to the book cover.  You could definitely take some time to choose a different binding style, or go for an elastic Traveler's Notebook style, by poking holes into the top and bottom of the book spine and feeding elastic through.

With my signatures sewn into place, I took some burlap ribbon and used hot glue to adhere it along the spine, to cover up the title of the book.  I also added some red ribbon on top of the burlap for an extra finishing touch :)   I can't wait to get started documenting my family's fun December and Christmas activities!!!  I plan to use the cards from the card pack to create tip-ins and pockets on the pages, and all of the Canadian Winter embellishments to decorate.  You can see how I brought this album together here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHfttGbiNAPIj4uerFaDAVK7QQd2nR4Hf  and stay tuned for updates on how I am filling up my album.
