Hey Wild Whisper Fans, Katelyn here! For today's post, I created my Crafting Is Cheaper than Therapy Home Decor Piece. To create my home decor piece, I've used the Brand New Handmade Collection. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite beverage and learn how to recreate my Crafting Is Cheaper than Therapy Home Decor Piece at home.
To start, you'll need a 6" hexagon wood shape.
Choose a piece of patterned paper out of the Handmade 12x12 Paper Pack. Trace the hexagon on to the patterned paper piece. Cut the hexagon out. Distress the edges of the hexagon. Ink the edges of the hexagon using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Choose another piece of patterned paper and die cut a 5" hexagon out of the patterned paper. Distress the edges of the hexagon. Ink the edges of the hexagon using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Pick another piece of patterned paper. Cut six pieces that measure 7/8" x 3". Distress the edges of the papers. Ink the edges of all the papers using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
You'll need to choose one more patterned paper. Cut the patterned paper to 2 7/8" x 3". Distress the edges of the paper. Ink the edges of the paper using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the cut apart quote paper, cut out the crafting is cheaper than therapy quote. Distress the edges of the quote. Ink the edges of the quote using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Choose two border strips from the bottom of the patterned papers. Cut the border strips to fit the largest patterned paper hexagon. Ink the edges of the border strips using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the Handmade Card Pack, you'll need the 3x4 card that has the paint palette on it. Fussy cut the paint palette out. Ink the edges of the palette using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Out of the Handmade Ephemera Pack, you'll need three buttons, a ruler, a pair of scissors, two rolls of washi tape, five paintbrushes and two paint tubes. Fussy cut around each image. Ink the edges of each image using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Adhere each 7/8" strips to each side of the wood hexagon.
Adhere the large patterned paper hexagon to the front of the wood hexagon. Adhere the smaller patterned paper hexagon to the middle of the large patterned paper hexagon.
Adhere the two border strips to the hexagon where you cut them to fit. Mine sit on the lower portion of the hexagon.
Foam square the paint palette to the middle of the smaller hexagon as desired. Adhere the quote to the 2 7/8" patterned paper piece. Adhere the quote to the paint palette.
On the right hand side of the quote, use foam squares and adhesive to adhere the ruler. Layer the pair of scissors, a button and a washi tape on top and around the ruler as desired. In the top right corner of the quote adhere the remaining two buttons as desired.
On the left hand side of the quote use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the five paint brushes, two paint tubes and washi tape as desired.
