Hello, Jenn here with another layout using the Halloween Night collection. Do you ever have a great idea for a layout that ends up not coming together the way you thought it would once you actually start putting it together? That's what happened to me with this layout, that turned into a layout and a half!
I started with two pictures, a 4x6 and a 4x4 of my kids in their costumes ready for trick or treating last year. My idea was to use the 12x12 cut apart sheet, as well as the manufacturers stripes from the papers I've already used, and the trick or treat flair. I thought maybe a grid pattern would be fun and that I could cut apart some of the poison labels to places around the photos, with the Halloween Night, and Trick or Treat pieces cut out of the cut-apart sheet. In the end, I felt like it wasn't coming together the way I thought it would, so I changed my plans!
I pulled out some black and silver texture paste, and two stencils to create some interest on some black cardstock to the backgrounds. I used a full piece of cardstock for one layout, and then a 6x12 piece for the other half layout. I finished the background with a splatter of white acrylic paint. While my background dried I matted the Halloween Night embellishment with some text paper, and the Trick or Treat embellishment with the blue apothecary paper, and fussy cut some of the labels from the poison paper.
For my 12x12 layout, I put the Halloween Night above my 4x6 photo in the center of the paper. I used three manufacturer's strips under the photo, almost like a shelf on the page, and then tucked the labels on either side of the photo to create two little clusters. I added the Trick or Treat flair to the left side of the photo. I finished the layout with some cute Halloween wood veneer from Dollarama, which I painted with watercolours, and some Halloween Night exclusive sequins.
I built my 6x12 layout in a similar way, except I put the 4x4 picture on top of the Trick or Treat embellishment. I made my little shelf with strips from the same paper I used to matte Halloween Night, and then tucked the labels on either side, with the skull flair on the right side. I added a few more wood veneer and sequins to finish this half layout as well.
I think this layout turned out so cute, I just love it :) If you'd like to see how it all came together please check out the process video on my channel!
