Hello, Jenn here! Happy Canada Day :) For today's layout I knew I had to do a throwback to the awesome Strong and Free collection to celebrate our nations birthday. This layout is also part of a Grab 5 challenge that I was participating in so I also had to use stamping, doilies, washi, ephemera, and enamel dots!!!
I started by picking some papers from the Strong and Free collection. I gutted the center of each one to make sure I can stretch this collection as far as possible, then created a border with the maple leaf paper, followed by the green leaf paper, then the light pink word paper, and finally the green triangle paper, each paper getting consecutively smaller until the picture in the center of the page. I found some small doilies in white and red so I layered them with the red on the bottom and the white on top, on either side of the picture. I folded and twisted the center of the white doilies so they have some movement to them and don't just sit flat on top of the red doilies. In the middle of each doily flower I added a piece of ephemera from the Photoplay O Canada collection.
For my stamping, I used the Strong and Free stamp set to stamp some leaves around the doily flowers and some maple leaves along the edge of the pink word paper. I found some black and white polka dot washi tape to tuck into the paper layers and help tie in the black ink I used for the stamping. Lastly, I added my enamel dots in white and red. I still felt like the layout was missing something so I tore a little piece of the green leaf paper from the top left hand side of the page, and the bottom right hand side. I tucked a little piece of white and red doily behind each tear, so they just peek out from the side of the layout. I added some stamped leaves, and a piece of the washi tape to each little torn section. I added my last maple leaf sequins from the Strong and Free exclusive SpiegelMom Scraps sequins mix to my little clusters, and that finished the layout!!!
