We are so pleased to welcome Natalie Dill as our guest designer for the months of March and April! She has a wonderful style and we adore what she has created for today using the Wild Whimsy collection. Let's send her lots of love on her social media and don't miss her layout walk-through at the end of this post.
I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to feature the awesome new Wild Whimsy collection this month. These amazing, mermaid-inspired papers were perfect for documenting my son & a beautiful day at the beach on our last vacation.
I used the beautiful patterned papers to cut a large title,as well as to border the top and bottom of my page.
I sewed the border paper and rolled the distressed edges to reveal a peek of the other beautiful pattern.
I fussy cut some of the amazing jeweled elements for an embellishment cluster with sequins.
I also fussy cut a mermaid tail for the little pull tab on my photo feature. I folded coordinating cardstock to create a photo waterfall of similar photos of my son jumping in the waves. It's a great impactful, interaction photo element, but really quite easy to accomplish!
Here's a quick run down of the waterfall process:
Cut a length of cardstock as wide as the photos you wish to include. The length doesn't have to be specific, as it may be trimmed if need be.
Measure the length of the first photo from the top of your rectangle, and score. Then score approximately every .5 inch the same amount of times as photos you wish to include.
Glue your photos on each .5 inch fold.so that they cascade one atop the other.
The excess of the rectangle should be folded behind the cascading photos. Use a band of the same or coordinating cardstock and adhere below the last photo, leaving a slot on the back of the rectangle.
Tuck the excess of the rectangle in the band slot. When you tug this tab, the cascaded photos should waterfall!
Here's a video showing the finished product.
I adore how my layout turned out with this fun, beachy collection. The colors are so unique and pretty. Perfect for your spring break trips!
Thanks for looking! xo Natalie
