Hello, Jenn here. I'm wrapping up my month of creating with the Forever and Always collection by having some fun with mixed media :) I keep seeing these gorgeous mixed media layouts on Instagram that just have me swooning, and I thought I would give it a try.
I started with some white cardstock and a heart stencil from Stampin' Up. I used white texture paste through to stencil in the bottom left corner, and opposite top right corner. I used my watercolours to match the colours from the collection and smooshed them onto the corners with texture paste using a plastic baggie. I also splattered some colour around with the paint brush and a spray mist.
While the background dried I worked on building layers behind my photo. I used as many of my left over Forever and Always papers as I could to create interesting layers behind the photo, with as many colours as possible showing. I also used a couple of my left over cards from the card pack and even a few left over pieces from the cut apart sheet. I fussy cut a few flowers and hearts from the papers, as well. I really used up this collection, and only have a few bits and pieces left. What a great feeling!!!
With the background dry, I could now add my photo cluster and start piecing together all the little flowers I fussy cut. I also added some thread, a lace flower, and some Prima paper flowers into the layers. I added a second embellishment cluster in the top righ corner, using the same papers that layered behind the photo, and more flowers. I chose the wood veneer "it was always you" from the collection, as my title and added that to the top cluster. To balance the wood veneer, I went into my stash to find some wood veneer hearts for the bottom photo cluster. How cute are those little, itty, bitty hearts?
It wouldn't be a Jenn layout without some exclusive SpiegelMom Scraps sequins, gold and tinsel Heidi Swapp Color Shine splatters, and a doodle-y border. At the last minute I decided that the layers could also use some enamel dots as an extra bit of texture and dimension. You should feel how heavy this layout is!!! I will definitely be trying this again because it is just so much fun to play with the mixed media, and I'm sure I can find even more interesting bits and pieces to add to the layout. This is definitely a great way to use up the last scraps of a collection or kit. If you want to see my whole process, be sure to pop over to my channel for the process video!
