Joy Tag by Katelyn G

Hey Wild Whisper Fans, Katelyn here! I'm excited to be on the blog today sharing my Joy Tag which features the brand new Back to Basics Collection which includes Cardstock, Embossing Powders and Lettering Stamps. To create my tag, I've used the Back to Basics Cardstock, a couple of the embossing powders, the brush lettering stamp set and some of the products from the Christmas Comfort Collection. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite Christmas beverage as I will walk you through how to recreate my piece at home.

To start, trace a tag onto the blue Back to Basics Cardstock. Cut the tag out. Apply a light coat of White Gesso overtop of the cardstock tag.

Next, you'll need the star stamp from the Christmas Comfort 4x4 stamp set. Apply Emboss It Ink to the star and stamp onto the tag. You'll need to reapply the ink to the star, and stamp onto the tag fourteen more times. Sprinkle Pine Dreams Embossing Powder overtop of the tag. Tag off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Distress the edges of the tag. Ink the edges of the tag using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the 2x3 Jeep Stamp and stamp onto a piece of white cardstock. Colour the jeep image in using Tombow Markers 847, 969, 249 and N15. Fussy cut the jeep out. Ink the edges of the jeep using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Brush Lettering Stamp set, you'll need the j, o and y. Apply Emboss It Ink to the j and stamp it onto a piece of burlap patterned paper. Apply Emboss It Ink to the o stamp and stamp it so that it will join the j on the burlap patterned paper. Apply Emboss It Ink to the y stamp and stamp it so that it will join the o on the burlap patterned paper. Sprinkle Wispy Wool Embossing Powder overtop of the joy word. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Fussy cut the word out. Ink the edges of the word using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the word paper out of the Christmas Comfort paper pack, you'll need to cut two pieces. The first piece measures 2 3/4" x 3" and the second piece measures 2 3/4" x 2". Distress the edges of both pieces of patterned paper. Ink the edges of both patterned papers using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Out of the Christmas Comfort Card pack, you'll need the branch card, the star card and the tree card. Cut the branch card to 2 1/2" x 3 3/4". Cut the star card to 3" x 2 1/2". Cut the tree card to 2 3/4" x 2 1/4". Distress the edges of all three cards. Ink the edges of all three cards using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the vehicle/jeep patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 2" x 1". Distress the edges of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the patterned paper using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose two border strips from the Christmas Comfort papers. Cut one border strip down to 3 3/4" and cut the other border strip down to 2 3/8". Distress the edges of the border strips. Ink the edges of the border strips using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the 3 3/4" border strip to the left hand side of the branch card. Adhere the jeep/truck paper to the top of the branch card. Foam square the branch card to the middle right hand side of the tag.

Adhere the 2 3/4" word patterned paper to the middle of the branch card, leaving a 1/2" border at the top and bottom. Adhere the star card to the middle of the word patterned paper, leaving a 1/4" border at the top and bottom. The star card will hang slightly off the right hand side of the tag. Adhere the 2 3/8" border strip to the bottom of the branch card.

Adhere the tree card to the middle of the star card. Adhere the 2 3/4" word paper to the middle of the tree card, leaving a 1/4" border at the top and bottom. Foam square the jeep to the middle of the 2 3/4" word paper.

Wrap twine three times along the bottom of the 2 3/4" word patterned paper and tie a bow on the left hand side. Adhere the joy word underneath the jeep and to the right side of the tag.

Using a paint brush, splatter Black Soot Distress Spray Stain overtop of the tag. To finish off the tag, tie black ribbon at the top of the tag.
