Hello, Jenn here with the new July collection Lake Life. It's gorgeous if I do say so myself :) I grew up in Ontario, lived on a lake, swam in the lake, played by the lake, and definitely enjoyed the lake life, so I couldn't wait to dig into this collection!!!
Since I'm still working away on my trip album, I pulled out the lake photos I have from our visit to Kingston, Ontario, and Lake Ontario Park. With white cardstock for my background, I decided to do some splatters and smooshing with mists and watercolours to mimic the waves splashing behind my daughter. I used a straw to blow the paint around and get a fun splashy effect.
I matted my photos on the beautiful rain drop 12x12 paper because I really love the contrast between blue and yellow, and popped them up with some foam. I felt like I needed a border or darker colour on the bottom and top of the layout so I used the gorgeous blue canoe paper and cut a little scalloped edge to put at the bottom of the layout, and used the left over piece with the inverted scallop for the top border.
From the card pack I cut out the circle that says 'Life is Simple, Just Add Water', and cut 'My Happy Place' into a circle. I used a punch to cut out four circles from the 'Lake Life' card and then used the 'Lake Life' left over at the top for my title. I also cut out a couple of the circles from another 12x12 paper to add to my diagonal line of circle embellishments. I chose the 'Happy Camper' flair button because when you put my daughter near water, happy camper, is an understatement, lol. I decided to add some different shades of blue, and white threat behind some of the circles to add a little texture. In classic Jenn style, I finished the layout with some SpiegelMom Scraps sequins, scattered through out the embellishments.
This layout came together so easily, and I had so much fun with using this collection that I just kept going and used it to scrap the pocket pages that accompany this layout.
