Hello, Jenn here!!! Are you all having a ton of fun with Palm Paradise? Me to :D
I started this layout by cutting thin strips from each piece of pattern paper. My plan was to lay vertical strips along the side of the layout and horizontal strips at the bottom, like a backwards "L". I love the touches of black in this collection and how bright it makes the colours look, so I really wanted do a layout with a black background. I tested my spray mists on another piece of black cardstock to make sure they would stand out, and, YAY, the looked great, so I splattered all over the empty space to the left of where the picture will go.
While my splatters dried, I fussy cut some images from the cut apart sheet, and put embossing powder onto some wood veneer. I used the grey cactus paper, and the green cactus paper to matte my photo, a collage of my daughter from the summer. Once the everything was dry, I adhered my strips of paper and used some foam dots to give dimension to my photo cluster, and placed it right at the intersection of the vertical and horizontal strips. I created three little embellishment clusters on top of, and to the right and left of the photo. Each cluster has a few of the pieces I fussy cut, some wood veneer, and sequins.
This was such a simple and fun layout to put together. Wow, do the colours ever look amazing on that black background.
