Mermaid Vibes Scrapbook Layout with Khristina

Hey Friends!

If you have been hanging around my facebook page at all this week, you know that I have a new obsession with using embossing powder on my layouts and I decided to continue that trend today with some subtle additions to a bold text paper. I just love how this simple grid layout came together using the Wild Whimsy Collection.

For the background, I started with the bold blue text paper from Wild Whimsy and added some stamped images of little starfish. I then grabbed some light mint embossing powder and embossed them. In the photos, it gives a subtle detail but it is more evident and textured in person for sure. I then simply created a grid using some of the pocket cards from Wild Whimsy along with my 4x6 photo. I had a lot of journaling that I knew that I wanted to add so including a nice big space for that was essential.

For my embellishment clusters, I started with some black and white washi and then layered in some fun textured ribbon as well as some mini seashells, a starfish charm, and two epoxy flair in different sizes. I really love all the different texture and dimension that I could get on my layout using just these few elements combined together.

I felt like the blue and teal color combination was a perfect way to help my daughter's bright pink mermaid swimsuit really stand out and I love that these subtle embellishments also brought in a little bit of that pink detail. Color is such an important element on layouts and I feel like adding those pop of pink really helped my photo take center stage.

I hope that you enjoy seeing what I created with my Wild Whimsy collection and just a few additional embellishments. I would love to see your version of a quick and easy grid layout too!

xoxo,

Khristina

Isn’t it amazing how an old, almost forgotten technique comes back to life! I LOVE embossing powder and have a ton of it to put to good use. After you embossed the fish cut file, I decided to bring mine back. When I mentioned embossing powders to you in an earlier video I didn’t realize I created a monster!! Thank you!!! btw.. This layout is spectacular. Love it !!!
