Xyron Feature Week - Jenn's Merman Layout

Jenn Gagne is here today with a wonderful merman layout! She incorporated her new Xyron sticker maker and we love how she created a matching traveller's notebook spread with her leftover supplies. Jenn will take it away now!

Well, over here in Alberta, we might be covered in snow up to our knees, but I've been working hard on my summer road trip album and the Wild Whimsy collection is just perfect for our beach photos!

I started my layout by punching out a bunch of circles from all the 12x12 papers in the collection.  I also used some cardstock in teal, mint and pink to add some solid colours and I love that it gives some different textures.  My idea was to use the circles like scales of a mermaid's tail.  I used the teal cardstock as a matte for the picture with some fun foam to give it dimension.  I cut the biggest circles in half and placed them around the photo, and then filled in the scale pattern randomly with the rest of the circles.  I also used the circles to make a fun scaly border around the page.

I fussy cut a mermaid from one of the 4x3 cards in the card pack and put her sitting on a rock in the corner of the layout.  I went through my thicker stash and found a set that matched the colours in the collection to write out the title "The Merman of Cavendish Beach".  The final touches are some sequins and a splatter of blue Recollections spray mist.  I always have the urge to keep going and add more, and I really considered looking for more embellishments but in the end, I don't think the layout needed anything else.  I love how this turned out!  All the colours and patterns work so well together and I might be a little biased, but I think I have the cutest little merman in the world.

With my left over circles, I decided to pull out my Xyron Sticker Makers and create a little companion layout in my Traveler's Notebook insert that I've been using to document our trip.  The layout isn't from the same day or the same beach, but I really like that my photo album matches the inserts that I made.  Because the insert gets handled a lot when being looked through, I try to keep everything stuck down really well.  The Xyron sticker maker was the perfect way to get full adhesive coverage on my circles, which means that they will stay good and stuck no matter how many times my little turkeys look through the insert!!!

Thank you so much to Xyron and Suzy and Heather for the super fun sticker makers. Until next week, Happy Scrapping!
