Jenn's Sentimental Sisters Layout

Happy Easter weekend all! Jenn Gagne is here today with this another wonderful project that happens to feature a mixture of our collections! Check out Jenn's process video and detail photos below and she will take it form here.

Hello, Jenn here, and I'm back with one final layout using the last dregs of my Wild Whimsy collection. I have had so much fun using this collection for my summer beach pictures, but I thought I'd change it up a little for this layout. I started with a piece of die cut paper, designed by Heather for the CSM Carnival 2017, and I cut it in half. I used papers from the Wild Whimsy collection, as well as the More Adventures, and No Place Like Home collections to back some of the hearts. I used a piece of grey 12x12 paper with hand-drawn diamonds on it, from the More Adventures collection to use as my background, and placed my cut file piece on one half of it. I had already used a piece from the grey paper on a layout in January so I had to get a little creative to find a way to cover the missing piece and make the paper look like it is whole. I added layers to my photo from the same papers I used to back the hearts so that the colours would be spread around a little and it also made the photo a little bigger to cover more of the hole in the background paper.  I went through my die cut stash and found a few pieces I wanted to use, including a card from Pebbles that was the right colour and size to cover up more of the hole, and just happened to say 'soul sisters' on it which is the perfect title for my picture! I pulled out some other Pebbles die cuts with the 'girl squad' sentiments and coffee cups, and some Shimelle Glitter Girl die cuts because they have the same beautiful, vibrant, jewel tones as Wild Whimsy! My photo is of my myself and my daughter with my sister and her daughter. Our daughter's were born three days apart from each other and the friendship they have is the strongest I've ever seen. They spent nearly everyday of the first three years of their lives together, and even though we moved across the country from them when the girls were three and a half, they have remained best of friends. The gem motif in Wild Whimsy definitely reminds me that our tight bonds to each other are something extra special, and the hearts speak to how much we love each other! Ok, I'm getting a little sappy, but I always find it fun to have little hidden meanings in the things I choose to put on my layout.  Because I had to put the 'soul sisters' card at the bottom to cover the hole, it made for a natural place to add a little embellishment cluster using the die cuts I'd pulled out, and some gorgeous Accent Scrapbooking flair with that beautiful pink that really pops and draws you eye around the page. I added two more clusters, one above the photo, and one to the left of the photo, using the same types of die cuts so each cluster would be similar. This is definitely a go-to style for me, following the rules of three, and repeating images. I cut out a journaling spot from one of the Wild Whimsy cards and the gems from another so that I could place them in each other clusters. As a final touch, I tucked a few little gems peeking out from some of the hearts that I didn't back, and then added a SpiegelMom Scraps sequins for some shine.I think this layout turned out so pretty and fun, and I really like it. It makes me so happy every time I see it. Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, Happy Scrapping!
