If you have noticed our blog has been quiet this month, please don't worry! We have projects to share 6 days a week all month long for July! We can't wait to share what our team has created with the Strong & Free collection. To start us off we have Karla Yungwirth posting today. She has created some wonderful decor items to decorate her mantel for Canada Day. Make sure to check out her video and from here she will take it away!
Hello friends! Karla here today, and I'm so excited to share the newest Wild Whisper collection with you - Strong & Free! I love that it is so wonderfully patriotic, as well as for the gorgeous patterns and colours that could be used for any occasion. I've created some fun Canada Day decor for my mantle to help us celebrate the festivities this weekend, but I will definitely be leaving it up for most of the summer!
For my first project I used a glass vase from the dollar store and inserted a piece of kraft cardstock inside to hide the flower stems. Then I wrapped some Canvas Corp Burlap around the base and used a strip of this lovely Wild Whisper paper with Canadian sentiments layered on top. I added some white flowers to the vase for a summery look!
Next, I used a shadow box frame to make some art. I used one of the 4x6 journaling cards from the Strong & Free card pack and stamped the banners on with Distress Oxide Inks. The stamps from the Strong & Free stamp set are so awesome! I curved the triangular stamp to create a banner, but you can leave it straight to use as a geometric pattern or border! I added a few of the triangles from the Wood Veneer Maple Leaves package right on top of the banner. The sentiment from the stamp set is embossed with Emerald Creek Charred Gold Embossing Powder and I used the Weathered Wood Powder to emboss the animal silhouette before popping it up with foam dots. I just love how this one turned out!!
And lastly, I created a beautiful banner by layering cardstock and the patterned paper from the Strong & Free paper pack, which I diecut with a Spellbinders banner die.
I used the wonderful stamps again, adding more dimension with foam dots and using the Strong & Free sequin mix for bling!
Thanks so much for for stopping by today! I hope you have as much fun playing with this collection as I have!! For all my Canadian friends - Happy Canada Day! And for my US friends - Happy 4th of July next week!!
Thank you so much to Karla for sharing these wonderful decor projects! For more inspiration from her, check out her blog, YouTube channel, and Instagram! Have a wonderful Canada Day weekend all!
