Hello scrappy friends, Jenn here! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you all the happiest New Year. I'm kicking off 2020 by using up all the leftover scraps from my 2019 collections (to make room for all the amazing 2020 collections coming out :) ). I've been working at finishing up the last few pages in my Traveler's Notebooks from 2018 and wanted to share this layout with you using a combination of Child at Heart and Canadian Winter.
In our family, we have a tradition when it comes to the first snowfall of the season. No matter what time it might be, as soon as it starts snowing, my daughter bundles up and runs outside to play. In 2018 the first snow fall happened in September, around midnight. I woke my daughter up, she put on a coat, and ran outside to do some cartwheels, then ran back inside and went right back to bed. The pictures I snapped aren't the best but I wanted to share the story anyways.
I started by cutting down the bonus pattern paper from the Child at Heart collection to fit the size of my Traveler's Notebook pages. I think the repeating grey 'x' pattern reminds me of falling snow. I chose four 4x3 journaling cards to matte my little photos and to use for my journaling. I stuck to the blue and teal colours from the collection, which give a wintry feel.
I put the photos on the right side of the page matted by the blue Child at Heart card and the blue Playtime card. I added the "Raising children is an art not a science" ephemera piece, and from Canadian Winter the 'falala' and 'Canadian Winter' ephemera. On the left side I matted the 'Bedtime Routine' card with one of the paint pour cards. For my title I decided to do a little play on the words Bedtime Routine since it was midnight when I took the pictures. I crossed out the words on the card then added the Playtime ephemera and wrote 'routine' under it. Finally, I added the deer wearing a scarf from the Canadian Winter ephemera to the top of the page, wrote my journaling, and then splattered the whole thing with Heidi Swapp Gold Color Shine.
This was a simple and quick layout and I hope it inspires you to pull out all the bits and pieces you have left from different collections and see how you can put them together on one layout (making lots of space for new collections!!!). You can see how this layout came together on my channel. And speaking of new collections, remember to use discount code DTJENN to get 10% off your purchase of all the new goodies out for 2020. Thanks so much for stopping by, Happy Scrapping,
Jenn :)
