Hey Friends!
I hope that as we move into the autumn season that you are making time in your busy schedules to get some creating in! I have had this Wild Whisper collection "Home is Where the Wifi Is" in my stash for awhile and I have to admit that I was a little bit intimidated. I love it but was just struggling to find the right pictures, the right vibe, the right everything. Do you ever do that?! Well...I found a solution that worked perfectly for me and I wanted to share it with you!
These patterned papers (the red dots, the blue dots, and the pen/pencil are all part of the Jenn Aguilar collection but there was something about them with a shiny finish that kept giving me pause. SO I pulled out my dollar store sanding block (or a nail file) and sanded the top. This completely transformed the patterned paper AND gave it a distressed feel that completely changed the vibe and made such a fun impact! Why have I not done this before?!
Next, I grabbed a stencil from my stash and added some darker blue circles to the patterned papers to. help them all feel even more cohesive. I took all of the papers and mounted them on a black background which I feel like really just made it all come together.
I finished the look with my vertical 4x6 photo and a fun, long title along with a few stickers and die cuts. I even fussy cut a couple of thought bubbles from the Jen Aguilar pattered paper collection to use as the foundation pieces for my embellishment clusters. The last detail was just a few black enamel dots and then I will add some journaling about this adventure.
I seriously cannot believe how using sandpaper to distress the surface of this paper really helped me create a fun new look that I just love! Have you ever tried this technique?! I highly recommend it!
xoxo,
Khristina
