Travel Journal by Katelyn

Hey Wild Whisper Fans, Katelyn here! I'm excited to be back on the blog today sharing with you my newest project that features the City Lights collection. By using the paper pack and the Flair from the City Lights collection, they were perfect for creating my Travel Journal. You'll want to grab a cup of your favourite summer beverage and learn how to recreate my travel journal at home for your next vacation.
To start, you'll need a piece of mat board and well as two 6" patterned papers from the City Lights Paper Pack. Add adhesive to one side of the mat board and adhere the patterned paper piece. Add adhesive to the other side of the mat board and adhere the other patterned paper piece. Place the matboard overtop of the Notebook die and die cut using your diecutting machine. Ink the edges of the notebook using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
Choose two border strips from the bottom of the patterned papers. Cut one border strip down to 3 3/8". Cut the other border strip down to 3 1/8". Ink the edges of the border strips using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the ticket paper, cut out three tickets. Ink the edges of the tickets using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the word patterned paper, die cut the large rectangle from the Credit Card Sleeve & Tags die. Distress the edges of the paper. Ink the edges of the patterned paper using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the graffiti patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 1 1/2" x 5". Distress the edges of the paper. Ink the edges of the paper using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the brick patterned paper, die cut the small rectangle from the Credit Card Sleeve & Tags die. Cut a second piece that measures 1 1/4" x 4 3/4". Distress the edges of both patterned papers. Ink the edges of the patterned paper using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the cut apart paper, you'll need to fussy cut the light standard and the city line. Cut the graffiti lady to 2 1/2" x 1/2". Cut a piece from the backside of the patterned paper that measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and round all four corners. Distress the edges fo the graffiti piece and rectangle. Ink the edges of the fussy cut images and patterned paper pieces using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.
From the Journaling words die, die cut the "travel and journal" words out of the pink geometric patterned paper.
From the Journaling words die, die cut the "travel and journal" words out of black cardstock.
Cut eight signatures out of Superstock Cardstock that measure 4 1/2" x 7", score at 3 1/2".
Create two signatures that have four pages each. Bind each signature into the journal using Black Wax Cording.
Adhere the brick strip to the graffiti strip. Adhere the graffiti strip 1/4" from the left on the front of the journal.
Adhere the blue rectangle to the word rectangle. Adhere the light standard to the right hand side of the blue rectangle. Foam square the word rectangle 1/8" from the left of the front of the journal.
Adhere the graffiti strip to the right of the brick rectangle, show as much of the graffiti as desired. Adhere one of the tickets to the right of the graffiti paper. Foam square the brick rectangle to the left of the blue paper. Adhere the second ticket to the top of the word paper. Adhere the third ticket to the left hand side of the word paper.
Use adhesive and foam squares to adhere the city line to the bottom of the word rectangle. Adhere the longest border strip 1/8" from the bottom of the start of the city line. Adhere the shorter border strip slightly overtop of the bottom of the longest border strip.
Adhere the flair button to the left of the border strips. Adhere the black cardstock travel slightly overtop of the pink geometric travel, creating a shadow.  Adhere the black cardstock journal slightly overtop of the pink geometric journal, creating a shadow. To finish off your journal, adhere the "Travel and Journal" words above the city line on the brick rectangle.
Here are a few closeup photos of the finished journal.
And here is my finished Travel Journal.
